Sport Leading Clinic

 

The Sport Leading Clinic will cover the basic skills in leading a sport route: clipping draws properly, setting an anchor for a follower, cleaning draws, cleaning an anchor and rappelling or lowering off. The course consists of one evening lecture and a full-day field trip. Students will need to purchase a copy of the textbook prior to class, Sport Climbing: From Top Rope to Redpoint, Techniques for Climbing Success by Andrew Bisharat.

Prerequisites:  

Participants must have passed Basic Rock School or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience and need to be comfortable climbing on a minimum of 5.8 terrain. The ability to climb 5.9 routes is preferred.

Equipment Provided:  

Ropes, sport draws, sport anchors.

Student Equipment:  

Harness, helmet, climbing shoes, belay device, locking carabiners, personal anchor.
