This is an introductory ice climbing course. BMS is a prerequisite along with the ability to be self-sufficient in a winter environment. Students are required to attend the lecture and one of the two field trips. The Ice Climbing clinic is intended for those who would like to gain experience with the basics of ice climbing. Topics covered include ice climbing techniques (vertical and moderate slope), ice climbing gear (boots, crampons, clothing, axes etc.) and ice protection and placement (screws, v-thread etc.)
