The YEP Bouldering Bus is a mobile classroom. Our converted school bus outfitted as a bouldering cave provides unique opportunities for students. YEP can combine the physical challenges of climbing with team building activities and hands-on science curriculum.

The Bouldering Bus was originally built by Christin and Ken Bellian in Fayetteville, N.C. where the Bellian family completed the climbing wall conversion themselves and wanted to provide recreation opportunities to under-served youth, when the school district decided against building a gymnasium for students.
When the Bellian Family moved to Boulder they wanted the bus to continue its legacy and donated to the Women’s Wilderness Institute. Staff members of the Women’s Wilderness Institute drove it 1700 miles from Fayetteville to Boulder, stopping along the way for community climbing events.
The CMC entered a partnership with the Women’s Wilderness Institute in 2013 to combine science with climbing through this mobile classroom, in order to reach more students at Title 1 schools. In 2014 The Women’s Wilderness Institute generously donated the bus to CMC and YEP. By fully adopting the Bouldering Bus, the Youth Education Program can provide even more outdoor education opportunities to students, regardless of socioeconomic status or community resources.
YEP relies on generous contributions from donors, grants and corporate support to bring YEP's innovative science curriculum and the adventure of climbing to underserved students throughout Metro Denver. You can bring the Bouldering Bus to a school in our community with a tax-deductible gift to YEP today.
