Prerequisites:
(1) Traditional Lead Climbing School or equivalent, and
(2) Confidence top-roping steep ice (WI4 -WI5) with good form, and
(3) Basic Anchors
This class is for experienced ice climbers who are ready to get on the sharp end. You'll learn how to place ice screws, leading strategy, and options for technical descent (e.g. v-threads). And get plenty of mentorship from our Sr. Ice Climbing Instructors.
If you are new to ice climbing, please take Basic Ice Climbing. If you're beyond the basics, but not quite ready to lead, consider Intermediate Ice Climbing.

Lecture 2: Tuesday, February 22 6:00pm-7:30pm Lecture 2 Online via Zoom (Invitation to be emailed out prior to the lecture)
Field Days: February 25 - February 27 - Overnight trip to Lake City CO. (Students are responsible for covering their own travel, food and accommodation)
Attendance/Completion Policy Students must attend all lectures and field days to receive credit for completing the course. Students will not be allowed to continue beyond a missed lecture/field day. Students must also demonstrate mastery of the both the prerequisites and the skills taught in the immediate class. If such mastery cannot be demonstrated, the student will be asked to repeat the course. If a student cannot demonstrate mastery of the prerequisites the student will not be allowed to continue in the class. Note that classes sometimes show "Sessions"; Basic Climbing Session A, for example. Sessions are simply alternate dates of the same class. In other words, you may choose Session A or Session B, depending on which dates work best for you. You do not have to complete both Session A and Session B.
Cancellation Policy: Classes must have minimum four students signed up and requisite number of instructors. If either number is too low class may be cancelled.
