Prerequisite: Rock Self Rescue I, Rock Seconding School, Rock Lead School or Sport Lead Clinic highly preferred.

This class expands upon the skills learned in Rock Self Rescue I.  The techniques taught will focus primarily on rescuing a second.  The pace for the class will be fast, with no remedial instruction, so please be solid with friction hitches, Munter, and Munter-mule, as these will be used extensively.

The skills taught in this course are perishable and they require repeated practice for competency.

Skills taught will include:

* How to tie knots and hitches used in a rescue situation quickly and efficiently.

* Basic safety principles for performing load transfers.

* Lowering systems (Munter, belay device with redirected brake strand, lowering from a loaded ATC-guide).

* Raising systems (3:1 raise, drop loop 3:1 raise, 5:1 raise).

* Rappel methods (extending the rappel device, counter-balance rappel, tandem rappel).

* Transition from a belay to baseline,

* Transition from baseline to a rescue (Baseline to a rappel, baseline to a lower, baseline to a raise).

Notes

Attendance/Completion Policy

Students must attend all lectures and field days to receive credit for completing the course. Students will not be allowed to continue beyond a missed lecture/field day. Students must also demonstrate mastery of the both the prerequisites and the skills taught in the immediate class. If such mastery cannot be demonstrated, the student will be asked to repeat the course. If a student cannot demonstrate mastery of the prerequisites the student will not be allowed to continue in the class.

Note that classes sometimes show "Sessions"; Basic Climbing Session A, for example. Sessions are simply alternate dates of the same class. In other words, you may choose Session A or Session B, depending on which dates work best for you. You do not have to complete both Session A and Session B.

Cancellation Policy: Classes must have minimum four students signed up and requisite number of instructors. If either number is too low class may be cancelled.
