Details

Prerequisites:



(1) Confidence Rock Climbing up to 5.10, and



(2) Confidence top-roping steep ice (WI4 -WI5) with good form, and



(3) Basic Anchors



This class introduces climbers to mixed rock and ice, as well as dry tool routes. You’ll learn movement and techniques for mixed climbing as well as route selection, grading systems, hazard evaluation and safety systems. The course will take place in Ouray Ice Park where you’ll get to practice on classic mixed and dry tool top roped climbs. 



You should be an experienced rock climber and proficient at climbing WI4-WI5 ice. Prerequisites: Intermediate Rock Climbing, Intermediate Ice Climbing.



 



Schedule



Lecture 1: Tuesday, Januaryy 4 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Ice Coop in Boulder



Field Days: January 7 - January 9 - Overnight trip to Ouray CO. (Students are responsible for covering their own travel, food and accommodation) 





Notes

Attendance/Completion Policy

Students must attend all lectures and field days to receive credit for completing the course. Students will not be allowed to continue beyond a missed lecture/field day. Students must also demonstrate mastery of the both the prerequisites and the skills taught in the immediate class. If such mastery cannot be demonstrated, the student will be asked to repeat the course. If a student cannot demonstrate mastery of the prerequisites the student will not be allowed to continue in the class.
Note that classes sometimes show "Sessions"; Basic Climbing Session A, for example. Sessions are simply alternate dates of the same class. In other words, you may choose Session A or Session B, depending on which dates work best for you. You do not have to complete both Session A and Session B.


Cancellation Policy: Classes must have minimum four students signed up and requisite number of instructors. If either number is too low class may be cancelled.
