In two Zoom lectures and one weekend field day on ice, Basic Ice Climbing will introduce novice or experienced rock climbers to the basics of ice climbing, and teach them to safely enjoy the sport in top-rope settings. The course focuses on equipment, safety, and technique.
If you already have experience with ice climbing and want to hone your technique while learning the skills necessary to be self-sufficient climbing top-accessible ice in ice parks and in the wild, consider taking Intermediate Ice. If you are interested in learning to lead on ice, consider the Ice Lead Climbing class.
Prerequisites:
(1) Baisc Rock Climbing or waiver, and
(2) at least 10 days climbing experience on rock. In other words, you need to be competent in basic climbing safety systems, including belaying, communication, tying-in, etc.

Equipment needed:
Note that classes sometimes show "Sessions"; Basic Climbing Session A, for example. Sessions are simply alternate dates of the same class. In other words, you may choose Session A, B C or D, depending on which dates work best for you. You do not have to complete both Sessions A-D.
